New categories for eight parcels of 'community' land

Eight parcels of council-owned "community" land on the Peninsula will be "recategorised", if amendments to Central Coast Council's management plan for community land go ahead.

The categories, specified in the Local Government Act, determine what use the land can be put to.

Three parcels in the Woy Woy will be recategorised.

Previously categorised as "general community use", land at 9 Angler St will be categorised as "park".

The Nambucca Park, which has an address of 36 Karingal Close, will be changed from "uncategorised" to "park".

Two lots in Veron Rd, adjoining the Hillview House nursing home, which were previously "uncategorised natural area" will become "bushland" and "watercourse" respectively.

A parcel at 1A Plane St, Blackwall, will be recategorised from "park" to "natural area - foreshore".

Two parcels near McEvoy Oval, Umina, will be changed.

One lot which inclues the oval will have "community use general" added to "sportsground" and "natural area - bushland".

A map shows the new use in a small part of the south east corner of the lot.

Land at 20 Glen Haven Cl will have "general community use" changed to "park", while retaining other uses of "natural area - wetland" and "natural area - bushland".

Another parcel with a Umina address is 113 The Esplanade at Ettalong Point.

It will be recategorised from "general community use" to "natural area - foreshore".

Land at Pearl Beach which includes the tennis courts in Opal Cl will have "general community use" changed to "sportsground", while retaining "natural area - bushland" and "park".

The proposed changes are currently on exhibition until Monday, November 25.

The changes have resulted from public comments when the Council's plan of management was proposed in January last year, according to the Council's Your Voice Our Coast website.

Around 10 per cent of the 2300 lots of community land included in the Community Land Plan attracted public comments.

"For most lots, the proposed categorisation was deemed unlikely to negatively impact land management in the short term."

However, it was recommended that the categorisation of those which attracted public comments be reviewed in the future, the website states.

Of the 230 lots reviewed, "110 lots are being proposed for re-categorisation in whole or part".

The proposed amendments also "categorise a further 160 lots of land for the first time, including 78 lots of operational land reclassified as community land in January 2024".

The land to be reclassified does not include the reserve at 23 Blackwall Rd, Blackwall, which is currently operational land.
