College says goodbye to head PE teacher after 24 years
The Woy Woy campus of Brisbane Water Secondary College has said goodbye to its head PE teacher, Ms Katie Austin.
After 24 years with the college, she has accepted a position at Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College.
"She has been a pillar of strength and inspiration in our school community for so long," said campus principal Ms Rebecca Cooper.
"Katie has an impressive legacy of 24 years to our college, starting her journey at Umina campus and spending the last 20 years with us at Woy Woy.
"Most recently, her tenure as head teacher of the PDHPE Faculty saw her wear many hats: from a dedicated teacher, mentor, and coach to a visionary leader who turned ideas into reality.
"Katie is a doer, an outstanding teacher, and a team player who always leads by example.
"Her energy, enthusiasm, and wicked sense of humour made every day brighter.
"She's incredibly organised and always went the extra mile for her students.
"Her loyalty and support are unmatched, and her innovative spirit has lead to countless improvements at our campus.
"Ms Austin's impact in the classroom is massive.
"Her leadership saw a remarkable rise in PDHPE and CAFS HSC results, reflecting her dedication and strategic approach to education.
"She is an incredible teacher who has herself inspired many to become educators themselves.
"From leading memorable school trips, such as the Kokoda Trail Hike, to implementing high-impact teaching strategies, Katie's legacy will continue to shape our community of students for years to come."
