Major Pairs final played at Umina
Jayden Moody and Brett Jacobson have won the Umina Beach Men's Bowling Club's 2024 Major Pairs Championship.
They defeated Jazza Bates and Robbie Anderson, 20-12, in the final played yesterday, October 13.
The semi-finals played on September 29 saw Paul Trigg and Mark Connell play Jayden Moody and Brett Jacobson, and Jazza Bates and Robbie Andersen play Ron Austin and Wally Pawelko.
Club secretary Mr Peter Springett described the semi-finals as "sensational", despite the cool, drizzly conditions.
In the first semi-final, Paul and Mark got out to an early 5-1 lead, but got stuck on five for six ends.
"Meanwhile Jayden and Jaco picked up four shots on each of the seventh and eighth ends, to go 13-5 up.
"The boys traded one shot on each of the next 10 ends, for Jayden and Jaco to win 21 - 11."
In the other semi-final, the score was 3-3 after three ends, 5-5 after six ends, and 8-7 to Jazza and Robbie after nine ends.
"Jazza and Robbie then picked up a two, one, one and a five, to go to 17-7.
"At the 18th end, Jazza and Robbie were 22-9 up.
"Ron and Wally dug deep and picked up a five on the 19th end to make it 22-15.
"It was game on. Ron and Wally then won the next two ends and brought the final score to 22-16.
"It was sensational to see Robbie play so well, after two years out of the game.
"Jazza was sensational as always."
