Disabled surfers recognised in State Parliament
The Central Coast branch of the Disabled Surfers' Association of Australia has been recognised in State Parliament by Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch in February.
She said the branch had brought more than 240 volunteers to Umina Beach, supporting over 100 surfers from the Central Coast as well as those from Sydney and Newcastle "who came to get in the water and join in the fun".
"I encourage everybody who possibly can to get involved in volunteering for the Disabled Surfers Association.
"It has been going since 2005 on the Central Coast, and the number of people who were at Umina Beach to appreciate th ewraparound support was fantastic.
"Surfers had four different opportunities to be taken out and ride a wave, supported by lovely volunteers."
