Canoe club helps clean up local waterways

Central Coast Outrigger Canoe Club joined the Clean4Shore team on Saturday, April 27.

Club members were on the Clean4Shore vessels doing four hours of volunteering to help clean up our local waterways.

"It was a lovely day on the water and we certainly earned our keep," said club member Ms Deb Sunartha.

"It was a new experience for many of the members and a very worthwhile cause."

Another volunteer Mr Gary Machin said: "It is important to clean up our local waterways. Hawkesbury River and Broken Bay, where we volunteered today, to support our recreational paddling.

"The amount of rubbish collected was astounding."

Member Ms Veronica Baker said: "It was a beautiful morning on the water and it felt like we made a difference."
