Science lecturer tells Rotary of recycling benefits
Sydney University science lecturer Ms Sue Johnson addressed the Rotary Club of Brisbane Water last week about the benefits and ease of recycling.
Described as "an Ettalong committed recycler who runs a Reuse Hub at her home here, and at her city pad in Kings Cross", Ms Johnson said that in the four years she has run her hubs, she has manage to keep more than two tonnes from being discarded.
"People drop off glass jars, egg cartons and other items that are suitable for reuse or recycling or upcycling."
She said she supplied glass jars to a regular clientele of jam and preserve makers or to anyone wanting to reuse items for craft or composting.
"Every able-bodied person has a responsibility to keep the earth habitable, by conserving resources and cleaning up after themselves.
"Every level of society should contribute to this: governments, corporations and businesses as well as private citizens," Ms Johnson said.
