Bowling club in 'strong position' for major renovation

Ettalong Bowling Club is in a strong financial position to start major renovation work after June next year, according to club president Mr Gary Thomson.

Mr Thomson said the club had reported a "very healthy profit" of $1.6 million at its annual meeting on October 20, after a "record profit of $1.9 million" the previous year.

The renovation would enable the food and beverage offerings to be upgraded, he said.

It would also include construction of a covered synthetic green and car parking upgrade to prevent future flooding.

The club was awaiting development approval from Central Coast Council.

"Three dimensional plans of future development will be displayed within the club for all to view when approved by Council," he said.

Mr Thomson said that despite the increased costs of living the club remained in a "very strong financial position".

"Considering increases during the year in wages, superannuation, electricity gas and water, insurances and cost of goods, the club posted a very healthy profit."

He attributed the success to the club's board of directors, club management and staff for their efforts in contributing to the Club's success."

"We have never been in a stronger financial position as we are now, due to our management team's planning, future vision and loyalty of our members."

Mr Thomson said the club's auditor had stated that, unlike many other clubs, Ettalong Bowling Club had prospered in difficult times and had a sustainable future.
