Student inquiry leads to Rotary donation
An inquiry by a Year 5 Ettalong Public School student at a Rotary Club stall at the Words on the Waves Writers' Festival has resulted in a donation of books valued at $720 to the school.
The student had asked about joining the club and helping in its work.
Despite being too young to join, his contact led to discussions between the school and the club.
"Ms Cherie Simpson from Rotary Brisbane Water attended our assembly onFriday, August 3, to present their donation," said school principal Ms Jodie Campbell.
"Rotary Brisbane Water donated additional sets of the Year 5 texts Bright New World and Dry to Dry as there was currently only one copy per class.
"The unit has a large focus on the imagery so having multiple copies for the students to browse through will allow students to engage with the beautifully illustrated, environmental concepts at their own pace.
"Ettalong Public School is appreciative of Rotary's support of our local students and we look forward to keeping the partnership going."
