Disabled surfers call for volunteers after record event
Central Coast Disabled Surfers Association has opened volunteer registration for its March 2 event at Umina Beach.
Surfer registration opened on Sunday, February 18.
"We ask volunteers to register as soon as possible so we know how many surfers we can invite," said association president Ms Rae Fletcher.
Ms Fletcher said the February event had a record number of volunteers and surfers, with 240 volunteers and 58 surfers.
"We need large volunteer numbers to make our surfing experience safe and enjoyable.
"There are water and land positions available, and you will be supervised by experience team leaders.
"Volunteers do not need to know how to surf although water skills are highly valued.
"A water refill station and a rash shirt will be provided for the day, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own wetsuits."
The day will end with a sausage sizzle and an award presentation.
