Seedlings planted at Umina oval
A group of community volunteers has planted more than 500 provenance seedlings from the Umina Coastal Sandplain Woodland at the Peninsula Recreation Precinct at Umina Oval on August 1.
The community tree planting day was held to help celebrate Planet Ark's National Tree Day.
Gosford council's director of city services Mr Stephen Glen said the event was a great opportunity to promote National Tree Day as well as contributing to the regeneration work that is being carried out at the Peninsula Recreation Precinct.
"The day was open to all ages and was a great success with residents being able to see the native species that we are planting back into the area," Mr Glen said.
"The new precinct will provide valuable open space, recreational and sporting opportunities for the local and broader regional communities while providing a popular tourist destination to visitors to the Central Coast through its unique location and combination of diverse facilities."
