Freshwater crocodile found in Umina

A one-metre-long freshwater crocodile has been found in the backyard of a Umina home.

The crocodile was removed by staff from the Australian Reptile Park, who identified it as an eight to10-year-old female freshwater crocodile, which appeared to be in good health.

The park staff believed that the crocodile was being kept illegally as a pet, "as freshwater crocodiles are not native to the Central Coast".

"We're asking for the owner to come forward or contact relevant wildlife authorities, if the crocodile belongs to a licensed reptile keeper."
