Injured driver flown to Royal North Shore Hospital

A rescue helicopter flew an injured car driver to Royal North Shore Hospital after an accident on Brisbane Water Dr, near The Boulevarde, Woy Woy, early on Thursday, May 11.

The accident was reportedly a head-on collision between a car and a bus.

The bus driver was said to be unhurt.

Extensive delays were experienced in both directions on Brisbane Water Dr with traffic restricted to one lane.

Traffic on Woy Woy Rd was also described as "extremely heavy".

The helicopter was expected to land at Woy Woy oval just after 7:30am, but was diverted to Austin Butler oval, "due to access issues on Woy Woy oval".

The accident site was cleared and the road re-opened at around 9am.
