Bring on development
It was refreshing to read an alternative point of view to the development debate in the August 2 issue (Vicky Taylor of Umina).
I have a young family and I believe in the future of the community.
We live a very short distance from an international city and the demographic of the Peninsula is dramatically changing accordingly.
Those who feel that our area should remain a sleepy little village are burying their heads in the sand.
Small towns in the outback can afford a slow paced lifestyle with little development, but a thriving district on a heavily populated coastline requires amenities and services.
We can be "Mount Druitt by the sea" or we can be a beautiful, vibrant, affluent community. Development brings jobs, visitors, facilities and infrastructure.
A declining population won't bring back beds and services to Woy Woy Hospital.
So I say bring on the Tesrol development, a road to Mount White, Aldi at Umina and McDonald's on Ocean Beach Rd.
