Strong in pool rescue championship
A team of 14 competitors from Ocean Beach Surf Life Saving Club performed strongly at the NSW Pool Rescue Championship earlier this month, taking out fourth place overall.
The event saw teams of the best pool rescue swimmers from across the state converge on the Peninsula Leisure Centre on September 4 and 5, according to Ocean Beach SLSC team manager and director of surf sports Ms Robyn Carr.
Ms Carr said the result was on the back of last year's first place finish which was led by dominant performances from Elyssia and Alessandra Gasparotto who netted eight and nine medals respectively.
"Keelan Bridge once again showed his class bringing home seven medals including the fiercely contested open men's 50 LC metre swim," Ms Carr said.
"Other strong performers were seen from Bridget Arahill, Allanah Whyte (two medals each), as well as Shane Ross, Blake Arahill, and Wade Hannell (one medal each).
"This was a fantastic result for Ocean Beach, with only 14 competitors.
"Many other clubs including the strong Sydney and South Coast clubs bring large contingents of competitors, and really go after the title.
"This really sets Ocean Beach up for another impressive competitive surf season."
