Surf clubs finish in top 20
Ocean Beach and Umina surf life saving clubs finished in the top 20 in the NSW Pool Rescue Championships at the Peninsula Leisure Centre across the weekend of September 4 and 5.
Ocean Beach took out equal fourth on 140 points and Umina on 42 points was in 13th position.
"Title holder Ocean Beach was eclipsed by the performances of the Wanda competitors," manager of surf sports Mr Chris Parker said.
"Ocean Beach slipped to equal fourth position despite wins by Keelan Bridge and the Gasparotto sisters.
Mr Parker said: "The Championships included obstacle swims, manikin carries, line throws, medley relays and simulated emergency response competition.
"The events are great for honing the surf rescue skills of our top athletes, who are all volunteer surf lifesavers."
