Council holds bike week ride
Gosford Council will host an information workshop and bike ride in Woy Woy as part of NSW Bike Week celebrations from September 18 to 26.
The activities planned for the area give local cycling enthusiasts the opportunity to "get into the spirit" and learn about how to get involved in cycling.
Council will hold an information workshop at Deepwater Plaza, Woy Woy, which will include bike maintenance demonstrations, bike set-up tips, product advice from retailers and information on local cycleways.
Council will also be hosting a Park to Park Ride on Sunday, September 26, from Gosford Sailing Club to Fishermans Wharf at Woy Woy commencing at 10am.
Council's director of city services Mr Stephen Glen said Bike Week provided a fantastic opportunity to promote cycling to a large audience.
"Throughout the week, council is promoting a number of activities for everyone to enjoy and we are really hoping to raise the profile of cycling on the Central Coast," Mr Glen said.
"Cycling is an environmentally healthy alternative to driving and riders in Gosford City have over 100km of cycleways to enjoy and explore.
"The Park to Park ride is a great chance for families and cycling enthusiasts to take in our spectacular waterfront whilst using our purpose built cycleway running from Gosford Lions Park next to Gosford Sailing Club through to Pelican Park at Woy Woy.
"Cycling is a safe alternative for short local trips."
