Umina campus teams win inter-college sports events
Year 9 and 10 teams from Umina campus of Brisbane Water Secondary College have won top places in a recent Inter-College Sports Gala Day.
The 40 students played against schools including Terrigal High School, Lake Munmorah High School and Lisarow High School in the two-day event.
The Year 9 and Year 10 girls' teams both took first place, while the Year 9 boys took second place and the Year 10 boys took third place.
"Day One saw our student athletes take part in a number of high and low intensity games," said campus principal Ms Kerrie O'Heir.
These included "vortex endzone, touch football, kick tennis and jolly ball at Woy Woy Campus, before finishing off with a competitive swim relay at the Peninsula Leisure Centre".
"Day Two was held at Umina Beach with athletes playing games such as beach touch, beach volleyball, beach flags and endzone, finished off with a swim and barbecue lunch."
Ms O'Heir said the students "demonstrated amazing skill, talent and ability".
She said their "competitiveness, respect and sportsmanship throughout the event was exceptional".
