'Tennis champ' wins places in regional competition

Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina campus "tennis champ" Bridget Broome has won places in both Year 8 and Year 9 competition in the Northwest Sydney Tennis EDTA Schools Boys Girls Tournament at Pennant Hills.

Bridget finished third in both the Year 8 singles and doubles events and won the Year 9 doubles event.

She was unseeded for the Year 9 event and won the final convincingly 6-0, 6-2 after being asked to play up a year by a fellow Sydney North team member.

Bridget then finished as the top female player from the girls representing her region in the 2022 Tennis NSW Champion of Champions event at Springwood.

She was 10th in the State out of the 32 in the 14-and-under girls section.

She narrowly missed out on the quarter finals going down 6-7, 7-6, 10-8 in a marathon two and a half hour match to the seventh seed.
