Bakery wins more medals
A Umina bakery has won four silver medals in this year's Great Aussie Meat Pie Competition bringing the bakery's award tally up to 152 medals over the past 15 years.
Bremen Patisserie owner Mr Ron Bruns said he could hardly believe that the local bakery had achieved so many awards since opening his bakery in West St, Umina, more than 20 years ago.
"We are very happy with this latest result and can only try and keep creating delicious award-winning pies," Mr Bruns said.
"This year we won silver awards for our plain meat pie, Italian bolognaise pie, pork, fennel, mushroom and broccoli pie as well as our apricot chicken with cashew pie.
"We keep trying to break the barriers when it comes to what gourmet pies we can make.
"It's always fun creating new flavours and we know the local community continue to embrace this as they have done so over the past 21 years."
Gourmet pies entered in competitions have included the naga jolokia chilli pie, the Greek gyros pie, oyster gourmet pie, kangaroo pie, red chicken curry pie, satay chicken and mushroom and the butter chicken pie.
