New bicycle shop opens
A new bicycle shop has opened in Ettalong.
The opening of Ride Ettalong coincided with Bike Week, a State Government initiative aimed at promoting cycling as a healthy, environmentally friendly and low-cost alternative to driving.
Catering to all riding levels, Ride Ettalong's mission is to help Central Coast cyclists get the most enjoyment out of their cycling experience, according to owner Mr Matt Gracie.
With more than 18 years experience in the bicycle industry, Mr Gracie said: "Opening a bike shop on the Peninsula has always been a dream of mine and I am excited about being able to pass on my skills and expertise to the local cycling community," Mr Gracie said.
"After spending time road racing in Europe, the beautiful scenery and great trails of the Central Coast easily compare with some of the best cycling experiences in the world."
Prior to opening Ride Ettalong, Mr Gracie spent 14 years as Shimano Australia's head bicycle technician.
He said local cyclists could have access to his skills as Australia's leading expert in Shimano bicycle products including Di2 electronic gear shifting and Nexus commuter products.
Mr Gracie said he was head bicycle technician for Shimano supported events such as the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Tour Down Under, Mountain Bike World Championships and Ironman Triathlon Events.
