New Guide unit at Blackwall

Blackwall Girl Guides will start a Guide unit for girls aged 10 to 14 years of age at the start of Term 4 in early October.

Group publicity officer Ms Leonie Newson said the popularity of the junior girl guides unit had enabled the group to begin offering a 10 to 14 year group.

Now in its second year, Blackwall Girl Guides now boasts 20 members with more expected to join.

"Since the start of activities by the Blackwall Girl Guide unit, the number of girls participating has shown a marked increase," Ms Newson said.

"New enrolments are always welcome for the junior guide unit which concentrates on looking after girls in the six to 10 year age group."

Ms Newson said the group was also excited about the refurbishment of the guide hall in Ettalong thanks to the help of Woy Woy Rotary Club.

"The Rotary Club participated in the construction of the hall some 50 years ago and their

renewed interest and assistance will ensure the coming year sees the girls operating in updated facilities," Ms Newson said.
