A lesson for the Bunnies
The Umina Bunnies first grade rugby league side lost to Toukley 20-16 in a game that should be a lesson well learnt, according to club secretary Mr Ian Sonter.
"While in front 12-4 at halftime, lack of discipline showed in the second half as they made errors that are a coach's nightmare material.
"Three games have got away this year in the closing stages.
"An 80-minute effort is just that, not checking the scoreboard at halftime and coasting home."
Meanwhile, Umina second grade gave their all in going down 18 to 16 to the Hawks.
"This team was decimated prior to the kick-off with six open grade players and an under-19 backing up after their games.
"Leading comfortably at halftime, the fatigue set in early as the Toukley team set about reeling in the points' difference and with them finally taking the lead with under five minutes remaining.
"Try as they could the Bunnies could not overcome that two point difference late in the game."
The open grade had a win 24 -20 against against Toukley.
As the play went from end to end and point for point ,the Bunnies left it till the last couple of minutes to take the lead thanks to a Shannon Sharpe converted try.
Approaching the halfway point of the competition this win consolidated the bunnies in the top five at the moment.
