Marine Rescue unit is second busiest
Marine Rescue Central Coast has recorded the second highest number of search and rescue missions of any Marine Rescue unit in the Hunter-Central Coast region in the last boating season.
Central Coast with 201 missions was second to Lake Macquarie with 441 missions and ahead of Port Stephens with 183 missions between October 1 and Anzac Day.
"While the official boating season is over, we know it is a year-round activity," said Central Coast Unit Commander Ian Morrow.
"We are reminding boaters who plan on heading out of the water, particularly over these colder months, to have the right safety equipment for their trip and to log on with their local Marine Rescue NSW base.
"It is vitally important that everyone on board is wearing a lifejacket and if the boat overturns to stay with their vessel," said Mr Morrow.
