Students help Clean4Shore in Riley Bay
Hawkesbury River flood debris in Brisbane Waters has been removed by students from Brisbane Waters Secondary College's Umina Campus at Rileys Bay on the seaward side of the Rip Bridge, according to Clean4Shore co-ordinator Mr Graham Johnston.
"A large emptied chemical drum was reported two weeks ago by the Bouddi Bushcare group with volunteer Dave Reed assisting the student in the removal of this item and more products from deep mangroves in this secluded bay," he said.
"With Simon returning and Damo assisting the students, the barge required pushing into the shallow waters for the task of loading the 580 kilos of foreshore rubbish and small litter.
"Supervising teaching staff praised the efforts of the students, showing quality team work and self-confidence to get a difficult completed.
"Bright autumn sunshine made for an enjoyable morning, with a healthy Clean4shore lunch to finish the day," said Mr Johnston.
