Bunnies suffer fifth loss
The Umina Bunnies first grade side suffered its fifth loss by less than four points going down 21 to 20 against Kincumber on June 20.
Club secretary Mr Ian Sonter said the team once again led at half time but poor completion rate and poor discipline meant the Bunnies were never going to get the 50/50 calls.
"The most pleasing aspect for the Bunnies this year has been the coach continually offering opportunities to the youngsters, who have not let him down.
"Although injuries have hit us hard this week, Matthews' will have the boys up and ready to perform in our fourth home game of the season."
Meanwhile Umina second grade went down 28 to 24 as the last three weeks of inclement weather showed that it's "quicker to lose fitness than it is to gain it", according to Mr Sonter.
"The game see-sawed as points were scored alternately with both sides leading at various stages," Mr Sonter said.
"Unforced errors the whole game saw the Bunnies continually giving away field position which the opposition were only too happy to capitalise on regularly, resulting in the narrow loss.
"Best on the day for the red and green were Adam King, Daniel Payne and Joel Johnson."
Mr Sonter said that in the Under-19s game against Kincumber: "The 13 players who represented the club did everyone proud as an empty reserves bench saw them play the entire game.
"Down 22-nil at half time, the Bunnies resolve saw them fight back to trail 22 to 16 with 10 minutes to go.
"However, the previous 60 minutes effort sapped their energy with the Colts running in three late tries to take the match 38 to 16."
