Group B: New Independents
Our team - Jane Smith, Alison Wade and Lisa Wriley - have been involved with and a part of the community of Gosford West ward for over 20 years.
We believe that local government should be about people and place.
Local government is important to our community, even when they don't realise it - not just roads, rates and rubbish - but also local parks, playgrounds, community facilities, libraries, sporting fields ... and bigger issues such as planning, protecting the environment and responding to climate change.
Our policies include:
* Supporting local groups and community voices to protect and enhance what we love for future generations.
* We want to give communities an effective voice in our Council.
* Work with local communities to identify priorities for infrastructure including local roads, drainage and footpaths
* We want to restore confidence in our Council. We will be working to deliver surplus or break-even budgets for our community
* We want to involve communities in a process of participatory budgeting.
* We also want to see greater accountability and transparency in Council's actions and decision making
* Better planning that retains the character of the Central Coast while providing the infrastructure that the community needs
* Protecting our COSS lands, open space and the places we love - urban reserves, the bushland, waterways and beaches
* Creating new local jobs, supporting existing and new sustainable industries
* Working with local communities to better understand and prepare for the impacts of climate change and extreme weather events
* Providing efficient and cost effective waste and recycling services
* Protecting our drinking water catchments and agricultural lands
