Society launches history film
The Bouddi Society will launch its film made about the history of the Bouddi Peninsula at a special presentation night on Saturday, June 26.
Gosford mayor Cr Chris Holstein will be in attendance along with members of the local community and supporters of the history film project.
The film entitled The Bouddi Peninsula: A Time Tour was made possible by a Gosford Council Development grant, according to the Bouddi Society vice president and film co-producer Mr David Dufty.
Also launched will be a 116-chapter CD-ROM on the history of the Bouddi Peninsula.
"The film brings to life the holiday era period beginning at Woy Woy station, travelling on the ferry to visit Hardy's Bay, Pretty Beach, Wagstaffe and Killcare," Mr Dufty said.
"Then off to Putty Beach and Maitland Bay, all in the company of local residents who have entertaining stories to tell of life in those days, including meeting a ghost at Maitland Bay.
"The CD-ROM Bouddi Stories, Bouddi Bios, Bouddi Artists is an amazing collection of historical articles, biographies and the works of local artists.
"It will stir controversy with one article claiming that Phillip stopped at Lobster Beach not Pearl Beach, and will provide great yarns, and at least 1500 photos, on boats, commerce, transport, fishing and stories from the life of national heroes like Russel Drysdale and local ones like Turo Downes, plus lots of other colourful local characters."
The launch of the film and CD-ROM will take place at the Wagstaffe Hall from 3pm.
