Umina student wins writers' festival primary section
A Umina Beach Public School student has won the primary school section of the Words on the Waves writers' festival.
Around 100 entries came from 17 schools across the Central Coast area, as well as via parents.
"The quality of entries for the inaugural Ripples Short Story Competition made judging a difficult task," organisers said.
"The judging team was extremely impressed with the variety of ways that students dealt with the topic, as well the high standard of entries."
An Ettalong student received an unexpected supplementary encouragement award.
"This award was added due to sheer creativity and laugh-out-loud value, even though it didn't meet the competition criteria."
