MPs attend Dying with Dignity meeting
Four local Members of Parliament will spoke at a Dying with Dignity meeting on Monday, June 27, following the passing of the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill by the NSW Parliament on May 19.
State parliamentarians Labor Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch, Labor Member for The Entrance Mr David Mehan and Liberal Member for Terrigal Mr Adam Crouch, were joined by newly-elected Federal Labor Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid.
The event was held at the Central Coast Leagues Club.
Also speaking was Dying with Dignity NSW vice-president Mr Shayne Higson.
The bill, moved by independent Member for Sydney Mr Alex Greenwich, passed the Lower House by 52 votes to 32 in November, while the vote in the Upper House on May 19 was 23 to 15.
The bill had 28 co-sponsors, including Ms Tesch and Mr Mehan, more than any other legislation in Australia.
NSW became the final state in Australia to legalise voluntary assisted dying.
