Inventions of the devil?

When I was a lad, there was an elderly Presbyterian Minister at our church who used to preach fierce sermons of hell-fire and damnation.

He was very scary and he used to say new-fangled things as picture theatres and television were inventions of the devil.

Now, when we see mobile phones and computer programs facilitate rape and murder, I am beginning to believe he had a point.
