Council drops alternative waste idea
Gosford Council will not proceed with an alternate waste technology and composting facility at Woy Woy tip, following Wyong's rejection of the proposal.
Council staff met with Wyong's general manager and key staff to discuss Wyong Council's participation in the proposed facility on Friday October 1.
Gosford Council was told in a staff report last week that Wyong were supportive of a regional approach to waste management, but financial analysis showed that involvement in the project would not provide a sufficient economic benefit.
Wyong Council formally advised Gosford Council in a letter dated October 18 that it would not be taking part in the project.
The staff report concluded that without the support of Wyong Shire Council, the project would not be financially viable.
