Donations accepted for 'giving tree'

Peninsula Villages are accepting donations for its Giving Tree Appeal until December 16.

The appeal encourages residents, staff, volunteers and the local community to purchase a gift which will be distributed by the Salvation Army to children in need on the Central Coast.

Peninsula Villages chief executive officer Mr Shane Neaves said that some wonderful presents have already been donated to the appeal, but there was still plenty of room under the Giving Tree.

"We have held our Giving Tree appeal for a number of years and each time we are overwhelmed by the support of our residents and the local community," Mr Neaves said.

"Christmas is a very special time of year and it stands as an important reminder to give back to those less fortunate here on the Central Coast," he said.

"This is something we are proud to support and, thanks to The Salvation Army, Peninsula Villages is able to help put a smile on the faces of children in need.

"For some, the festive season places increased pressure on struggling families and individuals who are unable to provide a gift to their loved ones on Christmas morning.

"Our aim is that this small contribution will make a big difference to families across the Coast at this festive time of year.

"Giving is easy, all we ask is that you drop an unwrapped present off under the Giving Tree located in the Main Hall at Peninsula Villages.

"The presents will then be wrapped and delivered to local families and children," he said.

Peninsula Villages' Giving Tree gifts will be collected by the Salvation Army at 10am on Friday, December 16, and will be followed by a special morning tea.

"If people are struggling for gift ideas, anything from toys to books, CDs, DVDs or gift vouchers would be greatly appreciated," he said.
